"Hercules," directed by Brett Ratner, delivers an exciting and action-packed retelling of the iconic hero's story. Here, the demigod is now a mercenary joining the resistance against a truly evil king. The film is packed with great action and explores ideas of honor, power and self-discovery, with the incredible Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson giving another stellar performance. Johnson is absolutely in tune with Hercules, and his heroic moments, such as the intense chariot battle, are truly breathtaking. The supporting cast, including Ian McShane as the wise Amphiaraus, John Hurt as the noble Cotys and Rufus Sewell as the unyielding Autolycus, add to the excitement. Ratner’s visual storytelling is excellent, showcasing stunning Greek landscapes and flaming castles, and the upbeat soundtrack keeps the energy high throughout the 98 minutes.
